With 14 years of experience in surgical and non-surgical orthopaedic treatments, Scott Barbour, MD, focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of general orthopaedic injuries, joints, and sports-related injuries.

Dr. Barbour serves as one of the few physicians in the U.S. currently performing arthroscopic hip surgery and biologic joint surgery to alleviate joint pain. He is also an expert in complex sports medicine procedures, including hip arthroscopy, "Tommy John" surgery, double bundle ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction, multiligamentous knee reconstruction, and arthroscopic shoulder surgery. His research has been instrumental in reforming the safe and effective use of allograft tissue. Dr. Barbour published a study on this topic in the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

At the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center located in Miami, Florida, Scott Barbour, MD, completed his internship and residency, receiving training from orthopaedic surgeons who treated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins. This unique opportunity allowed Dr. Barbour to develop expertise in diagnosing and treating sports injuries. In Palo Alto, California, Scott Barbour, MD, spent another year working with the San Jose Sharks hockey team, the Oakland Raiders football team, and United States National Rugby Team as a Fellow at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation’s Sports Medicine Department.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Barbour has contributed to the body of knowledge in the field of orthopaedics. “Raise the Bar on Patient Care,” published in North Fulton Living magazine, is one of several articles Scott Barbour, MD, has written.

His websites, scottbarbourmd.com and georgiainstituteofsportsmedicine.com, provide a wealth of helpful information for prospective patients, including detailed descriptions of each type of surgery and a variety of demonstrative videos.
